Exhaust pipe sealant?

I just put a new stainless steel Falcon exhaust on my Midget.  I fit
really nice except there are small leaks at the joint under the car and
at the muffler.  I was reading the DIY MGB manual the other day and
specified that you should use a exhaust sealant on the pipes.  I picked
up a tube of 700 degree copper silicone at the parts store but haven't
used it yet.  What do you folks think, will this stuff work or is there
something better?
