I suspect the original one is defunct. Either use the electric or replace
the original. I had the original die on my 75 Midget several years ago
and at the time could not get a new one. I put an eletric in and left the
original in place. No way to cover the hole where it went (did'nt know
any welders). As for the oil cooler I do not have one on the 78 and can
not give pertinent advice - but would like to know the answer and how it
works out.
