I am sure this has been discussed before on this list, but I cannot
remember the conclusions!
When my (1500) Midget has been standing a while and I start it up, the oil
warning light takes ages to go out. At least it seems like ages when you
are imagining dry metal against dry metal, grinding away at the bearings.
Actually maybe 2 to 3 seconds at most. Crank is good, bearings are good and
I have a fairly new oil pump (by which I mean the car has a fairly new oil
pump, not me !)
Once running (the car that is) all is OK so the problem I think is oil
draining down out of the filter and oil galleries, and it takes a moment to
re-charge the system.
Anyone got any tips as to how to avoid this ? Is there such a thing as a
one-way valve that I could fit between the filter and the block ? Does it
matter? Should I just never stop driving?!!!
I have an oil cooler with a connecting flange that fits in thios position.
Would it help to rotate this so that the oil feed and return pipes come out
of the top rather than the bottom?

Trusting in the "collective list experience" to help !!

Guy
