Is it possible for a 1275 Sprite to have both a 16ACR Lucas alternator *and* an external control box? My car is -ve, has a 1275 Marina engine, 16ACR alternator and a very peculiar black box with three coils, six blade wire terminals (all occupied) and has the following engraving on its removable metal cover: "New Era, Made in Japan". A local car electrician suggested (?!) this might be either a control box or a light amplifier. If it's the former, does that mean the control box *inside* the alternator is missing? Is this possible? Evangelos, 66 Sprite |
