Hey,
I just called the manufacturer of the Illuminator, Pertronix(800) 827-3758.
The lady asked the model of my distributor (my stock one has no vacuum
advance) and she gave me the part number LU142 and quoted me $108, that is
the suggested list. She then said she can refer me to an area authorize
dealer, who would probably sell it less than their suggested retail!!!
Give them a call on the rubber bumper model, they will give you the part
number, then you can order it from an authorized dealers.
An aside, she told me that Whitney can sell it. I gave Whitney a call, but
I found out that you'll have to get all kinds of reference info for Whitney
to be able to get non catalog parts from vendors. The Whitney guy said if
you can get all the information from Pertronix, they could get a quote. It
just wasn't worth it right now to go through all the red tape for a quote.
It might be worth it down the road, since Whitney sells the kits for the
cars they normally carry in the category for $60-$77. That could mean major
savings.
