Remove a spark plug and you can look down inside the combustion chamber with
a flashlight. Look to see if the piston is dished or flat. I'd suggest
removing all the plugs to make it easier to hand crank the engine for ease
of viewing.
Check the stanpart number on the head. Paul G did a bit of study on the
various high compression heads and has some information on them,
particularly on the height of the head and the numbers.
