I am running 15" TR7/8 Panasports on my Spitfire with no problems.

I've run TR7 wheels on my '78 for years now. With 5.5 in wide rim I can
run Yokohama R032 175/60/13 tires comfortably. I don't know of any
performance tire that fits nicely on the stock Spitfire rim.
