As Andy Mace has advised, they were black with a coppery valve cover.
Standard-Triumph used this
coppery gold paint for at least five years (maybe more) after it sold the
Ferguson tractor
business - but never cancelled the paint contract. When sold, Ferguson was
making the FE35 model
with a coppery gold skidded unit and Ferguson Grey bonnet, wheel centre plates
and splashers (rear
'mudguards')
So, if you want the correct colour of gold or copper, go to a tractor refurb
specialist. All the
gold or copper colours I've seen in the UK from the car paint suppliers is
different to the genuine
article. FWIW...
