Here's my next crossroad that I would like the advice of the list members.
I'm thinking of changing the pistons from the dished out type that have a
7.5 to 1 compression ratio to the flat type that have a 9.0 to 1 ratio. Do
you think this is a good idea?

Mike,
Very good idea in my book. I have the 76 1500, I believe it was the last to
use flat tops. Mind you it is a dead nut original with all the emission
equipment in place so performance is therefore, well could I say: The Way they
Were! It is really not that bad. You just have to learn to shift at 4200 or
so because it is going to take forever to go any higher on the ole Rev
Counter. Cruising at speed with OD is fine, the sucker will get up to 90
without
much effort but after that it becomes a struggle.

Hey Jonmac , I actually have a AutoX award won in Class at TRF with the Spit
76, so I give her the respect she is due. I got her into the Top Eliminator
on the TRF Drag Strip once only to lose to a TR4 Race car. Of course it was
a handicapped affair and I got to go like 5 seconds ahead. He got me right
at the Finish Line as I was running out of Revs.

It's all Good,
Cheers,
Darrell
