The car that replaced my Spitfire (I'd better not mention its name, but
it is a 70's coupe by a well-known British manufacturer with a
two-letter name...) came with wing-mounted bullet mirrors both sides.
Pretty, but pretty useless, as the actual mirror was so small I could
see very little (also they were loose and wobbled all over the place).
So, I decided to replace them with similar ones with convex glass. They
are still pretty, and they are still pretty useless. Any object more
than 4 feet behind my rear bumper is so small in the mirror as to be
pretty much invisible.
Maybe ones that are convex, but only about half as convex as the ones
I've got, would be a reasonable compromise?
Richard
