Hi Listers,

Time for me to resurface with a question. I just
purchased a used single Weber 40 DCOE 18 and Cannon
manifold for my '70 Mk3. The carb had been sitting in
a barn for years and was full of gunk...lots of gunk.
Thick, tarry, brown stuff.

I cleaned it out as best I could with lots of carb
cleaner spray, pipe cleaners and a dental pick, put on
a rebuild kit with new needle and float, and installed
it -- and the car just won't run, except on starter
fluid of course. I think it is just simply not getting
fuel through the carb, although I verified that the
float bowl is filling with gas.

I have a feeling that there may still be junk caught
in some of the tiny orifices on the carb. Has anyone
any experience cleaning out a DCOE? Any tricks to
getting it sparkling inside and out, especially those
tiny spaces?

I have a bucket of carb dip that I used when I rebuilt
my Stromberg CD150 5 years ago, but I am concerned
about all the brass parts in the Weber. Any advice
would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Adam
