Guys,
I need a little help. I purchased this 71 Spitfire a 2 weeks ago. It had not
run in 9 years. I have cleaned the fuel lines, fuel pump, and tank. Cleaned
the float needle valve. Adjusted the timing, put in new plugs and air filter.
Adjusted the valves (made sure none were stuck). The car runs and
drives...does not smoke. The bottom line it just does not want to get up and
go. On full acceleration, it does not sound like it is starving for fuel...
I think there is still a problem in the carb. but wanted to get some feedback
from you guys. Also, I have not replaced the o-ring under the float and there
is a drip there. Would that drip be enough to rob power? I sure could use
some suggestions. I am not familiar with this Stromberg type carb.
Thanks again...each time I have posted, several of you guys have been nice
enough to reply!
Andy
