OK List, this is the oddest thing that I have seen yet.

Just starting up the engine on my 77 after a full teardown (of the car, not
the motor). With Piston 1 at TDC, timing is set to 10 deg BTDC. Setting the
firing order to 1,3,4,2 (ccw rotation, as expected) - engine won't run.
nothing but a rare backfire through the Weber DVG. Changing firing order on
dizzy to 1,4,3,2 (I know it's wrong) the engine will run, albeit not very
well. While it's running, pulling plug wires for 2 or 3 kills the motor, but
pulling 1 or 4 has no effect. Basically the motor is running on 2 and 3
only. I know that all 4 are firing becuase I checked each with a timing
light. It's almost as if the timing is 180 deg off or something... I did
pull the crankshaft pulley to replace the timing cover gasket, but I'm
pretty sure it would not fit 180 degrees off because of a key. Anyone have
ANY ideas? I just replaced the plugs and coil today, new cap and rotor and
wires will be here tomorrow.
