No real answer Barry, but I've heard the horror stories of stereo
installations in MOPAR products from the mid 90's on. Right down to
some here at work in our fleet that wouldn't run with the radio removed.
They were wired in in such a manner that the ECU could not function
without the OEM radio installed. Of course, for us that was a boon.
They were pulling the OEM radios out and installing AM only units, and
had to stop doing that.
So I sympathize with your pain, and can say you aren't alone in it with
a Chrysler.
