A while back I bought a few of those inserts from Small Parts, in the 5/16-24
size. I was planning to possibly use one to fix a stripped hole in that funny
aluminum piece that goes beneath the front main bearing on the engine block.
But I had second thoughts, because that piece may be too narrow to
hold the insert. I might instead use a heli-coil.
That was two years ago, and for all I know, that hole might remain stripped
for two more years...
