As promised, I took some photos of it. And I can agree with John. It
looks great. Missing the decals as Paul pointed out but they can be
easily added. If anyone wants to see the hi res pics, let me know and
I'll send you a copy.

Listers,
I saw the subject Spitfire first hand on Wednesday. It
had great paint (not correct Pagent Blue) and
interior. It also had a new top and wood steering
wheel. Under the hood it was less impressive. The
whole engine was painted red and the cowl surface was
painted black with some asphalt type paint. The
chassis was painted the same color as the body but the
paint was flat. All the polution items were missing as
was the hot air intake valve. It would not be a Gold
Level car at VTR. In fact, based on the competition I
have seen, it could not win at a VTR regional
concours. It is suprising that it brought so much, but
that is what happens at auctions. On Wednesday a
really nice looking XKE coupe went for $25K!
