You can get front spring compressors from England,
(TSSC - Triumph Sport Six Club). For around $72.00
U.S.
As someone else has noted, a front spring compressor
is worth it's weight in gold. Something you will use
many times over the years. Especially if you have
adjustable seat shocks.
It can be a real pain trying to guesstimate the
proper ride height for the spring, adjust, put them on
the car, find out your wrong, take them off, have to
re-adjusted; repeat infinitum.
I wasn't enthused by the TSSC model because it has
two screws which must be tightened. I also wanted
something more stable to hold the spring to keep it
stable from the sides. So I made my own with a single
large handle screw and 3 bars that hold the shock and
spring assembly in situ.
You need a welder and about $25 in materials to make
the compressor, but it's worth the time and effort in
the long run. I used to have directions to build it,
but I lost the pictures, illustrations and
instructions in my recent computer crash last month.
I'll try to recreat them and post on my web page agin.
