I've been asked to define what this is.
A torque plate is used during honing a block and takes the place of the
head. When you torque a head down on the block the threads will cause
the cylinder bore to slightly deform. The torque plate has openings
slightly large than the cylinder bores so the honing bar can pass thru
the plate and as the plate is torqued to the block and the cylinder is
slightly deformed then when you hone it you get a better bore as the
hone removes these slight bore irregularities (sp).
Sounds like a big deal more than it really is, but the plates are
anywhere from 1 to 2 inches thich of steel and used primarily in race
engine shops.
I doubt anyone on the list has one but it never hurts to ask.
