I was hoping to use the GT6 nuts so I can still use the chrome GT6 center caps.
Maybe the TR7 nuts will work. On the other hand, the TR6 nuts might also work
since they had similar center caps. I will look into that.

You shouldn't have to do anything to the wheels. Just use the correct
lugnuts and you should be ok. It wouldn't hurt to change the studs out
to those used on TR6's and it makes it far easier to find a great
variety of off-the-shelf lug nuts to suit your purpose.
