?? What is it ??

As webmaster for our vintage sportscar club, I've just been asked the
following:
There's a sports car in a movie called 'Romancing the Stone' - red, looks like
it's late 50's or 60's.  I've seen this car in movies before and am curious if
it's an Aston Martin?

I'd guess probably not a Spitfire, but does anyone know what it is?
