In all my life I've never seen an auction that didn't have a minimum
price, below which the auctioneer would utter the words "no sale". With
an opening bid of $300, it's certainly an auction, you have the choice
to bid more.
As for the worth of a lightened flywheel, I've had them, and currently
have one on my Spitfire. I suppose it revs up quicker, but the
improvement is so slight I really can't tell. Would I spend $300 to get
one? no. There's other things that will get you a lot more performance
for less money.
