I think there is truth in both. First - you need to be knowledgeable if
your boing to bid (or go to a pawn shop, thrift store, etc.) You need to
know what something is worth.
But yes, I just bought a gasket a week or so ago. $3.95! Now if only I
could find a good deal on those little rubber cones for the bonnet (I'm
joking!!!!).

I still think it's unscrupulous to establish a "buy it now" price that's
roughly five times the actual value of the item. Now if you start the
bidding at or below the value, another ignorant bidders take it up to five
times the actual value, then hey! All bets are off!

that is at fault here, its the buyers. If the people that want to pay more

the catalogue price for an item wish to do so then thats up to them. They
can
pull out at any time they want.
