Plastigage really wouldn't work on the thrust bearings.
The best way to check for wear is with a dial indicator:
Mount it on the front of the engine, to measure the fore-and-aft
movement of the front pulley. Then shove the pulley backwards
and move it forwards by pressing the clutch pedal.
You may find that the play is OK, and you need not waste your time
replacing the bearings at all.
