Anyone that has installed a mallory dual point with
the mechanical advance in their spitfire, I have a
question as to what you have done about the spring
advance on these.
While the car has been running fine for months on the
stock set-up (which is the same from-factory model
number as the MGB, MGA, MIDGET and others), I noticed
that look at the spring progression rates are much
different then the stock spitfire advance curve. It's
a linear progression with a top advance of about 20
deg.
I'm wondering what settings/springs you may have
chosen. I did the little instructional graph
calculation that comes with the spring modification
kit, and it looks as though a 2 color spring kick-out
option is best suited to match the stock Spitfire 1500
set-up.
Let me know if anyone has some experience or advice on
this.
