Simpler and quicker to pull the whole thing. One other consideration in 
addition to those mentioned--if you try to pull the
O/D all by its lonesome, the trans mainshaft stays with transmission. I doubt 
that any rebuilder will warrant repairs on an
O/D which is missing a mainshaft.
