AArrrgghhh. 73 GT6 Mark III broke all four rr wheel studs and became a
slidemobile. Ok, that was a surpise, and it came home carefully on a tow
truck.Knocked out the broken studs, bought new ones from Vicky Brit. I was
gentlly pulling the first new one in with a 12 point socket (silly me)when the
socket slipped on the lug nut. Went out, bought a 6 point, and went to loosen
it to try a different nut. The stud popped out of place and now just spins in
the hole, with the lug nut still attached, Hasn't torn up the spines. Tried
using wedges in between the lug nut and flange to get the stud stuck again,
unsuccessfully. Vice grips couldn't hold the torque I need to get the nut off
the bolt. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to go the Dremel route.
Or any suggestions on replacing the studs? I have another option, too. I have
an extra flange from an older Spit that I could use. ( # 29 in Haynes Pg. 124)
or (# 5-377in Vicky Brits latest page 130). How does it come off? Is it worth
the effort to change flanges?Should I just get a dolly for the RR wheel area
and bolt the axle so it can't spin and truly have a LHD GT6 -Leon
