Someone recently replied to Jeff about a horn problem.
They suggested trying the horn with the key out of the
ignition. If it worked, the horn button to relay
circuit was operating off of the steering lock.
Ironically it didn't fix Jeff's problem, but it
described my horn problem exactly.
I've been at this for a good 6 hours now, and I
completely give up.
The problem I have is that I can get the circuit to
complete all the way to the steering knuckle joint.
Then I completely lose capacitance between the knuckle
joint and the rack and pinion where the direct ground
wires are bolted on.
I don't mean that I get impedence. I mean I get ZERO
ohms from the 2" distance between the rack (where the
lube bolt is on the rack) and the knuckle.
I contemplated putting a wire between the steering
knuckle and the steering assembly, but the knuckle has
so much movement from turning the wheel, i know it's
just going to rip out the first time I drive the car.
Where is the grounding from the steering column
supposed to come from? I don't see anything obvious
behind the dash to bolt a ground wire to. e.g. a free
ground wire or bolt.
