Spitfire enthusiasts,
I'm not sure if this came through the list or if this was sent to me as info
for my news letter.
In any case, I'm passing this on to you. If you've have already received this,
simply delete.
Mosport, near Peterborough, Ontario, is promising to be a great event, not to
be missed. I hope, I'll meet many
of you there.
Cheers

Re: Vintage Racing Festival, Mosport International Raceway
The Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada extends a warm
invitation to participate in Canada's premier vintage automobile event
at Mosport International Raceway, Canada's most fabled and historic race
track. This spectacular weekend of racing will celebrate the 24th
running of the VARAC Vintage Racing Festival -- three days of close
racing, free access to cars and drivers, and many other entertaining
features including a car show.
For the competitor, there is the opportunity to race with up to 250
competitors in ten different race groups comprising: Monoposto open
wheel, vintage and historic production sports cars, sports racing cars,
wings and slicks, and the modern Formula Fords. For the spectator,
there are three days of racing, talking to drivers about their cars,
vendors, and a car show on Sunday where you may display your classic
sports car.
Owning, restoring and maintaining a vintage or classic car is a
satisfying and rewarding pastime for many of us. Being able to compete
with similar cars of the same period on a road racing circuit, such as
Mosport, takes the satisfaction to an extraordinary height, whether as a
competitor or a spectator. This year's Vintage Racing Festival will
provide you with an opportunity to show off your pride and joy, both on
and off the track.
This year we are featuring the Triumph marque and hosting "The
International Triumph Challenge". We are expecting cars from all over
Canada, the United States and hopefully, the United Kingdom. If you
were fortunate to be able to attend the Triumph Reunion at Mid-Ohio last
season, you will understand why we are so excited at the prospect of
hosting these racers at our 2003 Festival.
VARAC would like to invite all the members of your club to attend our
event this coming June. The weekend will start for spectators on
Friday, June 27 and culminate with Feature Races on Sunday, June 29th.
The spectator Car Show, organized by the Toronto Triumph Club, will take
place on Sunday.
The plans for the Festival are progressing well and the details may be
viewed on our website at: www.varac.ca/Festival. Check back here
periodically for new information as the plans develop.
We have prepared a flyer and a newsletter article which your Webmaster
and Newsletter Editor may use in your club's publications. These may be
download from our website at: www.varac.ca/Festival/fest_events.html.
Periodically we will be updating you with more detailed information
about opportunities for you to participate in the Festival.
In summary, everyone is welcome! Check our website for details and if
you still have questions, please contact me or any VARAC member. We
look forward to seeing you in June!
