Reading about all the snow in the NE USA (there were even reports on the TV
news in the UK yesterday) makes me glad we don't experience such conditions
here. A couple of weeks ago 2" fell just north of London that created total
chaos on the road networks leaving some people stuck in their cars on one of
the main motorways for 20 hours in freezing conditions. An official enquiry
is still ongoing to find out the root cause, but it seems that the people
who send out the snow plows did it too late - after the traffic had come to
a stop! How on earth do you cope with 20"+ ? You could loose a Spit
completely in those conditions!
