Fitting B Post Caps

I have finally managed to get my hands on two B Post Caps for my early Mk1
(the straight ones without the "wing").

Can anyone help with the next step ie fitting them. I'm not sure whether the
inside face should go over the trim panel or between it and the body.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
