If others use EPDM you might want to check it real close before you pour
chemicals all over a brand new piece, it might turn to goo.
I have also had success with MEK cleaning and shaping rubber parts, THIS
stuff is three headed baby stuff so please wear some type of breathing and
hand protection.
MEK is a very strong solvent, it's sold in most hardware stores, it works
well but the flammability and off gassing is a potential health risk.
So be careful.

I can't speak for other manufacturers/suppliers, but the glazing sections we
produce are done in EPDM.
