Joe, I had a very good pressure regulator on my "3" I bought from Moss U/K,
(not available in the U/S), while driving down to VTR S/E 2 weeks ago it
went out with no warning, just no gas would pass through, so I by-passed the
regulator and drove 500 miles without one, rather rough idle, very bad MPG
and just not the same running car, when I arrived Larry MiCeli gave me his
spare and the idle and roughness disappeared, before I left home I installed
new "Bosch Platinums", the plugs after 500 miles were destroyed from heavy
black carbon and I mean heavy, like pure gas, I carry a spare set so I
installed the regulator & plugs and drove home, 29MPG (driving 85 all the
way), and the plugs were just like brand new when I pulled them after
arriving back home, so yes without a regulator the pump will over power the
float bowls, even with a low pressure elec. fuel pump. "FT"
