>Hi, I have a 1980 spitfire 1500 that runs very well and strong too! A
curious
thing is hapening though. I smelt oil burning, and thought perhaps it was
just residue left on the engine since it had been sitting for awile, however
on closer inspection, it is spilling out from the dipstick stem<

Well Well Well, would you believe it, an oil leak on a Spit. Now where have I
heard that before.!!!!!! I am sure that if you keep reading the emails the
more competent members of this fraternity will endeavour to enlighten you on
the fact that if you aint got an oil leak you aint got a Spit. I havent got
to the stage of oil leaks yet, but I will !!!!, just as soon as I install the
engine. Take heart, you are not alone in this

Happy Spitting...................John (in the United Kingdom)
