Hi Tim,
Have you ever seen the 4-seater Spitfire which has attended some TSSC
events? It's ben built on a Herald chassis and lengthened behind the doors.
It's quite subtle and doesn't look out of proportion. As you don't like the
Herald or Vitesse styling that would take out a large chunk of your options.
Most of the alternatives I can come up with are in the same styling ballpark as
the Herald so wouldn't appeal to your tastes (Hillman Minx family DHC and
suchlike). Then again, if you're already considering a conversion then the
world is your oyster.

But all of the (potential) fibreglass problems scare me more than good honest
rust! Some years ago I had an Ashley fibregalss special which I had intended to
rebuild on a shortened Herald chassis. The delamination and crazing was
horrendous and I just never got around to doing anything with it. It did
however teach me that fibreglass is not the problem free material which some
would have us believe.

I believe Canley Classics are developing a conversion of this kind - at least I
think it's Canley.

No - I meant the 2+2 coupe. The 2 seaters are pretty but probably a bit cramped
for my build. I've never actually tried one so that's based on a preconception,
happy to be proven wrong.

Our classics tend to get used on a daily basis so we're coming from a different
angle. The Passat Estate gets used for things which don't fit in the Triumphs,
