You know the biggest problem with doing a restoration is money.
You can never have enough when you need it.
This morning my wife and I were discussing the whole thing.
I was asking for a nice sum too help the project along. We looked at our
combine take home and bills per month. Lets just say I might have been a
little unreasonable, but she set me straight. After all this is a project
and not a necessity...to her :)
Now this set back does not mean I could not meet my goals.
I could have the car ready for paint by summer 2003 and on the road for the
fall, but at what cost to the rest of the project. Is it worth rushing it so
I can drive a few weeks? It would also mean skipping important steps.
Obviously I could take out a loan and have the car ready in on time, but
that9s just plain silly. Still I was reading a hotroder's site, he said
never take 10 yrs to build one or was that 5. It will drive you and your
spouse crazy. Too late :)
2004 seems along time to go without driving. No I'm not buying a 2nd
Triumph!
I honestly think if its going to take time, then its worth doing it right.
Might not get the int. done right away, but when the car is road ready.
Every thing will have been thought about and worked on.
Engine, brakes, transmission, suspension, chrome, wheels and so on. Once the
body is on I don9t want to be in a position where I say, "I wish I had done
that before." I guess that9s one advantage to doing slow?
Think any of this makes sense or have I lost my mind totally?
The other issue I have been having lately is the Paint Code and Int. Code
screaming at me. Wedgewood Blue and Shadow Blue.
To be honest I've only seen 2 examples of the car in this trim.
One on the Rimmers Bro catalogue and the other was a low res picture from a
car show in the States.
I have a thing for yellow plain and simple, but the longer this restoration
takes the more I want to do the GT6 justice and restore her to original.
With a little spark under the hood.
That9s it I'm officially a NUT.
