*All* you have in your 1500's boot there is; 2 sets of spanners,
screwdrivers, a crappy gunson carb balancer, an exhaust mounting kit in a
jiffy bag, string, duck tape, jack, more oil, WD40, carb cleaner, ignition
leads, one empty bottle and one with water in.
My suggestion/ideas - some sensible, some silly.
1. If you have an oil feed to the rockers, then remove the head end of this
(using the spanners), bung other end in the empty bottle. If the empty bottle
isn't big enough use this and empty out the water bottle. Crank engine (for a
short time!) and oil sprays out of hose.
2. Similar idea, but by removing the oil pressure sender (need some sort of
hose) - Jiffy bag as a funnel?
3. some sort of siphon system using the dipstick tube and the tube from the
carbalencer (if it has one). Use the string down the tube and pull out to
start siphon, unless you like the taste of sump oil?
4. Jiffy bag as a funnel/mat. Slacken the oil filter and loose the few
hundred ml from in there. Repeat as required (cranking engine between dumps to
refil filter).
5. Screwdriver stabbed into side of sump just above MAX level. Catch oil in
jiffy bag/bottle/gutter. Mental note to get some steel epoxy/new sump and not
to take fast left/right hand corners (as applicable).
6. If you have an oil cooler, slacken the hoses to that and drain some oil
into the bottle.
7. Wait 6 months for the oil to leak out by itself (on someone else's drive)
8. Find the nearest Quick-fit, or phone AA/RAC
9. Rev engine stupid until it starts burning oil.
10. Space dipstick (using washers from mounting kit) up until oil level reads
MAX. Everything is now OK.
And I haven't used the duck tape yet.....
