Ah, Genevieve, fickle old lady you are! - An update to my recent post to the
list telling all (with a suitable smug look on my face :))of getting my
Spitfire 4 back from major surgery at the local Triumph specialist.
Got her out of her garage this morning to give her a 30 minute run back to
the "Triumph Doctor" to pay an outstanding bill. Managed to get 2 miles down
the road, when a sickening sequence of "clunk, grind, no oomph" played out.
Stopped car, rang automobile association, Genevieve gets 30 minute ride on
tow truck to specialist with a sheared half-shaft and potentially terminal
diff (the likely original breakage). Looks like by the time I'm finished she
will have the whole drive train from engine to wheels replaced!
Wife very understanding, made conciliatory noises on way home about how much
fun I get out of the car (mental note - buy heaps of flowers, take her out
to dinner before the bill arrives). Don't you just love LBCs!
By the way, great thread on why we buy Spits. Someone should make a
composite of the posts and put an article in a magazine!
Regards
Bob
