That would be the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve.  IMO,
this is a good device to have in place if you can manage it.  It draws
blowby gases (combustion gases that leak past the piston rings) out of
the crankcase and put them back into the combustion chambers where
they get a second chance at providing energy, reducing pollution, and
keeping the crankcase pressure down where it belongs.  One of the
cheapest, most effective, and innocuous devices -- even helps fuel
economy!

If you DO plug it, make sure the crankcase is ventilated properly or
you will have oil spewing out in more places than Triumph designed for
-- like dipstick, oil filler cap, rocker cover, sump cover, rear main
seal, front main seal ...
