James,

I would suggest rigging up a test in your kitcken.  Suspend the switch over
a saucepan of water so that the detector part is immersed.  Hook up a
multimeter to the switch to read resistance.  Slowly heat the water and see
what happens to the resistance.  If you have a thermometer to check the
water temperature at which the resistance changes, all the better.
