Oh dear, it sounds to me like a big end has gone...
Should be repairable, best case analysis you need new big end bearings,
worst case (probably) you need a replacement crankshaft, at least one
conrod, and new big end bearings. I hope.
Sounds like a single rail gearbox you have; as for other engine swap
details, I'll let someone who has done it advise you!
