In the "for what it's worth" department: I echo Neil's comments re: oil cooler.
I installed one on Hobbs (77 Spit 1500) and even during the 110+ degree (F)
summer temps he still drives at just below 1/2 on the guage. of course, it
rolls right up toward redline again when stuck in traffic, which is why I also
have a pusher fan as a jussincase.
