I haven't seen the ad your describing but it sounds just like the early
Spitfire bonnet that I have. It has just such a stainless trim piece. I
thought that it was some previous owner that found something and put this on
the car but it looks as though it was made for the bonnet. It fits perfectly
starts at the windshield end and ends about an inch from the end of the small
raised relief that is normally in the early hoods. Sorta like a third fender
trim piece but in the middle of the bonnet and a little wider at the nose than
the tail. I was going to take it off when I finish the car because I felt it
looked too busy with the fender beads and all. I have never seen another, and
until you mentioned this never heard of another one either -
