All,
I have a '76 Spit 1500 with an electric fuel pump, a stock Stromberg single
150 CD carb, and a Crane Cams Fireball HI 6500 electronic ignition.
Whenever I get up around 65-70 mph, if I try to give her more gas she starts
sputtering as if being fuel starved, and just won't go any faster. Also,
upon acceleration, she will start to stumble when RPM gets around 3000 (this
is just a guess, as tach not working great). This appears to be indicative
of a pump with too little pressure, and, if so, what is the correct
operating pressure for the fuel pump and does anyone (and I'm sure most
will...LOL) have any suggestions for a replacement pump?
OR, is this something that could be caused by the Crane ignition? If so, how
can I troubleshoot it?
Otherwise, she runs great
TIA for any help on this problem.
Cheers,
Bob Norway
