This is a really great site for showing 'how stuff works' in laymans
terms. There are sections about how most parts of a car work e.g.
engine, gearbox, carburretors, brakes etc... Best of all it's free!
I was like you 2 years ago when I bought my Spitfire, didn't have the
first clue about cars, but with the help of this list and 'messing about
with the car' I now have a reasonable knowledge of how most of the car
works.
