Thanks to all of the coaching, correcting and encouraging from the list,
"Rosie" is back on the road after about 2 1/2 years in repair. It is a good but
wary feeling. I have about 100 miles and every mile is better than the
previous. The idle is settling down. The temperature is regulating (all the air
is now out of the system) and many of the rattles have been isolated.
I think it would have been easier to repair one item at a time (not that this
has been a restoration) than this continuous series of repairs. I have
forgotten the "feel" of the car and we are still getting reaquainted. It's like
meeting an old friend and learning that things are not always the way you
remember them; some better, some worse. I hope that I can regain the enthusiam
I once had. Much of my motivation for continuing this repair process has been
my determination not to be beaten by an equally stubborn automobile.
Hopefully each day will be more comfortable, like a well worn sweater or easy
chair. 'Til then I'll just keep tinkering and smiling like the rest of you!
