Go to the library or the newsstand and pick up the January 2002 issue of Car &
Driver Magazine - the annual "10 Best" issue. They picked the Focus as one of
the "10 Best" cars, no small achievement.
Later in the same issue is an article on the "not-yet-available" SVT Focus.
SVT is Ford's performance engineering and marketing group. They make good
stuff. There will be a more powerful SVT version of the Focus sometime in this
calendar year. Should eliminate the term "underpowered" from anyone's
description.
Also, the Focus seems to have become a popular "Pocket Rocket" on the West
Coast. Lots of speed/handling/styling equipment should be available.
So...I don't know... Wait for the SVT version or take advantage of the cheap
prices and low interest rates on the 2001? Your choice.
