I was planning to do a supercharger project for Tiny Tim about a year ago.
However, when I did the math, I discovered some frightening things. So I
discontinued the project and installed a Honda S2000 engine instead. What I
now have is about 30 % more horsepower and much greater reliability for
about the same cost.
The problems are:
1. the Spitfire lower end would never hold up to the stress of sustained boost.
2. engineering the fuel injection part of it would have been very expensive and
using a conventional carb would add to the problems of reliability due
to the lack of lubrication of the supercharger's pump.
3. Obtaining a supercharger suitable for that particular engine was way too
expensive, not to mention fabricating an intake.
There were others but I have forgotten most of them.
