Greetings Listers .
Condolences with the WTC . I've been away on business for a while . Returned
on Monday 3 December after a few months on the road . Very tiring . Will be
in the office till 10:00 Friday 7 December 2001 and then I'm on a much
deserved leave until 14 January 2002 ( won't be able to respond to e mails
until the 14th ) . Hopefully 2002 will not be so hectic for me . I really
need time to work on my Triumphs and the farm as well .
During all my travels I was quite lucky and managed to obtain the following
for my 1964 Spitfire 4 :
1) badly damaged dash pad ( any ideas on how to restore it ? ) ,
2) incomplete d-type o/d gearbox ( missing speedo angle drive , overdrive
relay and lock out switch ).
3) metal chrome ( stainless steel ) trim for windshield rubber . Now I just
need to find the rubber and chrome trim for hard top rear glass ( have
correct rear glass but incorrect rubber and no chrome trim . )
Hopefully it won't take me another 7 years to stumble upon the metal chrome
plates on top of the dash pad ( can't remember the correct name , but there
are 3 chrome plates under the 3 bolts that hold the windshield frame in
place on top of the dash pad ), heater control pull knob ( on instrument
panel ) , metal locking tab on passenger door ( turn to lock passenger door
), 4 x two eared knock offs / spinners for wire wheels and original tools .
Now , if Santa could just do something about the forever elusive '56 TR 3
bits :
1) Seat rails ( sliding mechanisms ) .
2) Bonnet / hood safety catch .
3) Vent lid and mechanism ( lid , spring , hinge , link rod etc. ) .
4) Optional TR 3 'GT Touring Kit' door handles or TR 3 A handles .
5) Hard Top fixing kit .
6) Sill edge finishers ( Lh + Rh ) .
7) Speedometer ( Mph or Kph ).
8) Windscreen washer pump and knob ( Trafalgar ) and water jets / nozzles .
9) Door pull ( black cord ) and chrome door pull end finisher ( Lh & Rh ) .
10) Thermostat , thermostat housing and radiator cap .
11) Original tools .
12) Choke cable assembly + knob .
Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2002 .
Chris de Wet .
