If you are forced to leave a Spit outdoors for a while, I recommend
removing the rubber plugs in the front of each front floorboard
(about where your heels rest). Otherwise, rainwater can accumulate
down there, hidden under the carpets, and cause a lot of problems.
Besides rusting the floor, it can create a sauna-like environment
in the car that will cause mildew and rust throughout the interior.
Another tip: The spaces inside the rear wings (behind the rear
wheels) can accumulate a lot of yukky crud over the years.
If you remove the rubber plugs in the bottom corner
of these spaces, you can actually stick a hose in there
and thoroughly flush them out. (And they will quickly dry out).
But put those plugs back in before driving!
