When I first started driving my spitfire I used to
shift around 1000-1500 RPM (right off of idle right?
Well, it idled really low back then <800). Today I
still shift around 2000-2500 rpms and occasionally at
3000 (but it sounds like I'm trying to drag or peel
wheels with the Monza exhaust system).
I never ever take my Spit beyond 5000 rpms. Even on
spirited highway driving, I try to keep the revs to
4500 or less (this is without an OD trans) so I'm only
doing about 65-70mph. I figure, this will extend the
life of the poorly designed three main bearing crank.
Atleast until I get the new engine back.
